thankful.

'thankful' according to amy...

there are no words to express the gratitude that has consumed me this year.
if i were to make a list, it might look like this...

i am thankful.
i am thankful for two legs.
i am thankful that i can wake up in the morning, look outside and see the colors smeared across the horizon.
i am thankful for my parents who continue to love me the way i love charlie.
i am thankful for all the mornings my dad brought me coffee and my mom made me cinnamon sugar toast.
i am thankful for a sister who is my best friend, my confidant, my polar opposite and the best aunt ever.
i am thankful for a man who loves me even more now, despite the scars and the limping.
i am thankful for a man who still lets me know i am wanted and needed every day.
i am thankful for a man who pushes me to think.
i am thankful for a man who pushes me to grow.
i am thankful for a man who loves his little girl more than anything else in the world.
i am thankful for all the times he sneaks into her room to make sure she is breathing.
i am thankful for the appreciation that steel beam offered me.
i am thankful for the accident.
i am thnakful for the realizations that being hurt brought me.
i am thankful that god chose me to be a mother to the most beautiful child i have ever known.
i am thankful for charlie's health.
i am thankful for charlie's smiles.
i am thankful for each moment i get to spend with my sweet girl.
i am thankful for a warm house.
i am thankful for a house.
i am thankful for starbucks coffee.
i am thankful for words.
i am thankful for my job.
i am thankful for charlie's caregivers.
i am thankful for choice.
i am thankful for each person that sent cards, wrote e-mails, brought food and spent time with me and with us during an incredibly dark time.
i am thankful for a fireplace on which to hang stockings.
i am thankful for national-get-your-christmas-coffee-mug-out day.
i am thankful.

there are no words
to express just how thankful i am
how thankful we are
for all our gifts
all our blessings.
